Skull & Snow: A Sunday Sake Takeover


Sake is not something we typically feature, but on Sunday, May 17th, we’re bringing it front and center. Namazake Paul is joining us at Nomadic to pour a lineup from Takeda Shuzo, a brewery tucked away in the coastal fishing village of Joetsu. This is a deep dive into the craft of a tiny, ten-generation family operation where the rice is grown just 15 to 20 minutes from the brewery doors. These are unpasteurized, expressive bottles that lean into the wilder, more vibrant side of fermentation.  


We’re starting with Koshino Sesshu Snow Boat Honjozo Nigori, which trades the usual chalky texture of unfiltered sake for a luxurious, creamy mouthfeel defined by coconut richness and a sharp, crisp apple finish. From there, the "Skull" series takes over. Takeda Red Skull Junmai Muroka Nama Genshu hits with an immediate aroma of juicy watermelon and cantaloupe, eventually opening up into…
